China was given a befitting reply on the military front after a violent skirmish with Indian forces in the Galvan Valley of eastern Ladakh. At the same time, on the economic and other front too, the Modi government has taken a big step against it. The Indian government has banned 59 Chinese mobile apps. This includes TikTok, UC Browser, Share It and some other Chinese apps.

Indian security agencies had asked the government to either block 52 mobile applications linked to China or advise people not to use them as they are not safe to use.

These apps are sending data out of India on a large scale. People associated with this case had already given this information to Hindustan Times. The list that security agencies sent to the government included video conferencing apps such as Zoom, Tik-Tok, UC Browser, Xander, Share It and Clean Master.

In April month this year, the Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA) issued an advisory regarding the use of zoom app and it's security. This advisory was issued by the Ministry on the proposal of the National Cyber Security Agency Computer Emergency Response Team India (CERT-in). India is not the first country to ban the use of zoom app, some other countries also banned zoom app.

Earlier Taiwan also banned government agencies from using the zoom app. Germany and America have done the same. Reacting to the advisory of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the company said that it was serious concern about the security of users.

There have been demands for action on mobile apps that compromise security. Companies like Chinese Internet company Byte Dance, owned by the video sharing app, denied it. But officials said that apps designed by Chinese developers or with Chinese links, whether they are for Android or iOS, can be used as spyware or other harmful ware.
